When you know, you just know

The story of a High School girl and a High School boy who met during a girls night that changed their lives forever.

Hahah If you thought this was a simple love story you are sooooo.. wrong, we are anything but ordinary.

It was a Saturday about 13 years ago, I was on my way to my friend Ashley's house for a typical girls day/night, so I thought. You know endless amounts of candy, music, movies, dance party, being fools, no makeup, sweats, the norm. We were having a blast! After supper sometime she looked at me full of excitement, I knew she was up to something... Come to find out she invited one of her friends over! Normally I would not care, girls night... more the merrier... right? Wrong! 1. It wasn't another girl to join in on girls night, 2. I was a boy, 3. It was a complete set up! Talk about panic.. Specially since I was in all sweats, the oversized sweater and all, and she only told me when he was already on his way, I had 10-15 minutes. So what do I do? Quickly change and proceeded to act casual DUH!

He walked through the door and I'm pretty sure my mouth dropped to the floor... I was never one for the whole "Love at first sight" thing but there he was... After I could get a word out, we talked and talked (Ashley was all smiles). We found out we went to the same school and he said he would come visit me on lunch Monday; although I never thought he actually would...

Monday at noon I was in the French Immersion hall way where everyone use to hang out, I still had my doubts therefore I didn't tell anyone I was waiting around to see if the boy I met over the weekend would actually come see me. So there I was minding my owe business (acting casual LOL) and when I turned around I see him walking down the hall towards me with his best friend Aaron. Everyone in the hall also turn to look, probably because I was shocked! And when he walked directly to me behind him I could see my friends all whispering and mouthing "Who's that?!" or making faces of approval.

After that we hung out a lot, I would go visit him at the golfing range that he worked at which happened to be walking distance from my mothers house, I'd help him clean up after work then he would drive me home and hang out for a bit. You could say I was hand over heels. Unfortunately because of our slight age difference we went our separate ways.

Fast forward 4-ish years..... I was in the mall with two of my close friends Robin and Colin. We walked around the corner, almost ready to leave to go back to my house when I seen what I thought was a family friend, Cody. Once he got closer I realized it actually wasn't Cody... it was RAY!!! I has been 4 years that we haven't seen each other or haven't talked, and I mean at all.. I complete froze... "What do I do?!?, do I stay? run away? if I stay what do I say?!?! - complete panic..... I froze too long, he was to close to run. He walked right up to me, so of course I said Hey, in my mind I figured he would just say Hey back and continue walking right by but to my surprise we ended up talking for a few minutes. He told me to text him and gave me his number again. Someone Pinch ME!

When we got home Robin and Colin went downstairs to start studying and I went to kitchen for snack. My mom was in the kitchen so I said "Mom!! Guess who I ran into today?!?!" she instantly replied "Ray". I was so confused as to how she would of guessed that after it being so long without even mentioning his name, she said "because you haven't been this excited running into anyone else". Ray and I talked again for a bit and hung out a few times, came to find out we both just recently broke up with our others. Unfortunately Ray and I went our separate ways again... neither of us were ready yet and didn't want to end up as each others rebounds when we knew there was something good there to protect. I had to have faith that our time would come.

Fast forward 1.5-ish years...… I was working at shoppers and when I got off work I seen a Facebook Message on my phone from "Ray Comeau", I may have almost passed out.... We messaged back and forth a bit and when I got home around 10:30PM he asked me to hang out that night. I changed, told mom I was going out for a bit and left the house. I met him at his apartment, got in his car and went to the most Canadian first date-ish place. Tim Hortons Parking Lot, where we sat and talked for hours.

Throughout those years when we didn't date Ray would always say lets try to be friends for now, I would always say "It won't work, we're not meant to be friends". I always believed we would someday be more. Now look where we are, clearly it was always fate, just had to be patient. Some people ask us if we would change any of our past since we had a few times apart due to the age difference and not being ready, but we wouldn't change anything for the world. God knows what would have happened but we know we wouldn't be who and how we are now without the time apart. When you know, you just know.
